SUMMER FIELD HOCKEY
CAMP > ENTERING 6th - 9th GRADE > Proving Grounds
Our field hockey camp for 6th- 9th graders is entering its 12th summer under the helm of Katie Whelan, Shipley School's Director of Field Hockey. This camp aims to create a competitive and fun learning environment where girls of all abilities develop individual skills and gain a better understanding of team concepts. Instruction is focused on two parts, individual skills and team concepts. Individual skills include: ball control; passing accuracy; stationary and moving receptions; dodges; defensive tackles; hitting; and shot selection. Team concepts include: creating 2 v1’s; team defense; offensive & defensive corners; off-ball movement; fast breaks; and offensive & defensive circle play. All of the skills are reinforced through small games and competitive scrimmages. Camp coaches are current and past collegiate field hockey players, as well as current high school players and coaches.
